Brassed Off
with the Goodwick Brass Band
A play about the troubles faced by a colliery brass band, following the closure of their pit in Grimley Yorkshire 1996 with live soundtrack provided by the award winning Goodwick Brass Band. A talented local cast joins forces with the brass band for this stage version of the 1996 film. The story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions as we follow their struggles, from empty cupboards and bailiffs at the door to Band leader Danny hiding the fact he has been coughing up blood.
The play deals with the huge increase in suicides that resulted from the end of the coal industry in Britain, and the struggle to retain hope in those difficult circumstances. An exciting and creative collaboration between Fishguard Musical Society and the award-winning Goodwick Brass Band.
