Sofia Coppola's La Traviata
FROM TEATRO DELL'OPERA DI ROMA
A collaboration between American filmmaker Sofia Coppola and Italian haute couture king Valentino Garavani comes in the form of a revival of Giuseppe Verdi’s classic opera, LA TRAVIATA.
Coppola brings new life into Verdi’s 1853 opera that tells the story of tempestuous love and heartbreak. Violetta Valéry is a well-known courtesan in Paris whose life appears to be glamorous. However, she’s suffering from a serious illness and living on the money given to her by her male patrons. But she ends up meeting and falling in love with Alfredo Germont, a young man from a good family. But tragic circumstances mean they’re torn apart...
Following a 15 performance sell-out run in Rome, this elegant spectacle is being brought directly to the big screen, captured in glorious 4K from the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
