Till (12A) - Socially distanced / Mesurau cadw pellter cymdeithasol

Chinonye Chukwu | USA | 2022 | 130’

Till is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till (12A) Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, who, in 1955, was lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi.

When Emmett’s body is returned to his mother in Chicago, Mamie chooses to have an open-casket funeral so that the world could see what has been done to her child. Thousands did and the monstrousness of the crime galvanized the ongoing civil-rights movement.

In Mamie’s poignant journey of grief turned to action, we see the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world as she vows to expose the racism behind the attack while working to have those involved brought to justice.
